The short version of how the TAG Tesla filter works — what it costs, what it does, and what you stay in control of.
What does it cost?
Free
There is no charge and no subscription. Once your Tesla is connected, filtering stays on at no cost to you.
What does it do?
It turns off the entertainment features on your Tesla's screen so the car can't be used to browse the web or watch and play unfiltered content.
On newer Tesla software these features are switched off directly, so they simply don't open. On older software that doesn't support this yet, the car instead interrupts entertainment when it's opened while parked.
What can TAG see?
Only what's needed to keep the filter working — mainly whether filtering is active and whether a blocked app was opened.
You sign in through Tesla's own screen, so TAG never sees your Tesla password. We don't monitor your driving or track where you go, and we don't read your messages, calls, or accounts.
What does it control?
Only the entertainment apps on the center screen:
- Web browser
- Theater — video and streaming apps
- Arcade — games
It does not touch driving, steering, navigation, charging, climate, locks, or anything to do with how the car operates. Music and phone calls are left alone.
Can it be changed?
Yes. The settings are yours and can be adjusted at any time — for example, opening up Arcade while keeping the browser blocked. Just reach out and we'll update it, usually within minutes.
You can also remove TAG's access entirely from your Tesla account whenever you choose.
What are the options?
You choose which of the three categories to block — browser, theater, and arcade — in any combination. Most people block all three.
